Inspirational Talk (daw!)

Yes, Guest of honour na, speaker pa. I don’t know what I did to deserve this, (alindog lang ba?) but I’m thankful I was given this  rare opportunity  to inspire and was able to give back to my Alma Mater at the same time. Thank You Ma’am Chelz Rasing!!!

Mabuhay ang ICANIANS! BOOM RARAH!

Before I start, let me share a secret with you. I stand in front of you not to congratulate you just because It’s your Graduation Day today, I am not here to celebrate with you for passing the exams or for having good grades or because you’ve done well with your studies. I am sorry kids, I am not here for that.I am here because of one reason. And that is to challenge all of you. Not as new graduates but as the new SUPER HEROES of this generation. The kind of heroes who are not only capable of saving the day, but who are also brave enough to make a difference in the future. The theme today is “Kabataang Mula sa k to 12 tagapagdala ng kaunlaran sa Pilipinas” and I am here to ask you, are you up for this challenge?

To our beloved Principal Mrs Lucilyn Niere, To the honourable  school director, Mrs. Celia rasing, teaching and non-teaching staff of our school, proud parents, other platform guests, my young dear graduates, ladies and gentlemen a blessed good morning.

Who among you have seen the movie, Zootopia? This is the new Disney animation that tells us about diversity, tolerance and importance of being who you want to be no matter what the situations are. Judy Hopps, the tiny yet ambitious protagonist in the movie was able to change her destiny to be the very first of her species to leave the carrot farm and to be a cop in the Zootopia police force. She was determined, hard working and optimistic. 3 values to help someone succeed. But that’s not why I am bringing her today, it is what she said in the movie that I think is just befitting to our event today, “No matter what kind of person you are, I implore you. Try. Try to make the world a better place. Look inside yourself and recognize that change starts with you.

Life is not just about learning how to read and write, Kids. Life is also about learning how to make things big no matter how small you are. You are all like Judy, You are maybe young and little, but you are all capable of making great things. Today, you are not just graduates. you are all survivors. You survived days in school without mom or dad at your side, you are able to memorize long poems and songs by yourselves, you missed episodes of your favorite cartoon show because you needed to finish your homework. You spent months learning new skills without complains. Thank You kids for your hardwork. You are now one step ahead in helping to build a brighter future.

As Kto12 graduates, I challenge you to be like Judy Hopps, don’t be afraid to dream, to take another step higher with pride and perseverance. Remember what the bunny told u, TRY. Try to be better, try to be nicer, try to be more positive, try to be friendlier, try to draw, try to sing, try to enjoy your childhood. And don’t stop trying to figure out everything.

If you notice, I keep on saying the word TRY. Do you ever wonder what TRY means? Contrary to what you believe in, to T-R-Y doesn’t always mean to push your limits. It isn’t about what you cannot do. To try is to actually realise what you are truly made of. I made an acronym for the word T-R-Y. TRY means THE REALITY of YOUR SELF. When you try, it is not because you just want to do things or you’re just curious about it, you try because you know, you can do it. You try because there is a connection between you and what you wanna try. So Dear graduates I challenge you to TRY and TRY and TRY until you realize what you are truly capable of.

To the parents, If there’s one thing we share the same, it is the fact that I am a parent too. I am a mom of four, my youngest is 7 yr old so by now you realized I have attended a ceremony like this, 4 times already.

Bilang isang magulang, totoo yung “we want the best for our kids”. We only want the best for them hence we invest to good school for best quality education to secure their future. Di po ba? Parents, This is the crucial stage of your children’s life. This is their formative years.

Education is the best weapon we can have to win the war of poverty and illiteracy. They will be more equipped to face the challenge of globalization.  Our complex and technical world today requires education and skills that were not need during our time. Ultimately, this well educated generation will benefit us all in the future. Isa po ako sa makakapag patunay, na If its from Seiko, it must be good, but if its from ICA, they’re the best.

Remember parents and teachers, Superheroes are not born, they are created. Let’s help the kids  find and flourish their super powers.

20 years has already passed, and Mrs Rasing, Maam Samson then was my Filipino teacher. Isa sa favorite kong subject yan kasi Filipino, Noli Me Tangere.

Dear teachers. We appreciate your love and concern for the kids. This graduation is the asterisk on your index card of teaching experience. These wonderful kids are the marks of your hardwork, sacrifices and determination to make this world a better place to live in. You did a good job in motivating them and inspiring them. Your noble job is more than a book of Noli Me Tangere. Because there are more chapters ahead of you. Mrs. Rasing and to all the teachers  I wish you good luck and I wish you more asterisks to come.

You deserve a big warm of applause!

Kids. Parents and teachers. Congratulations for a job well done.

It is an honor and privilege to come back here to inspire.

MARAMING SALAMAT PO.
